Brusho Crystal Color - Loving them!

Tuesday 27 February 2018

I've been playing with the Brusho Crystal Colors and I have to say that these are my favourite new products in the Occasions Catalogue.  Every time I make a project with them I learn more about them and the results are always so much fun.  One of the big things that I've learned is that you have to be patient!  The way the project looks changes as the colours dry and you have to be patient had let it dry - don't keep adding colour and water.

Here's a card I made using the Brilliant Blue and Yellow crystals.

Here's the steps I followed:
  1. On Watercolor paper, stamp the large flower from the Beautiful Day Stampset using VersaMark ink.  I used a piece of watercolour paper that was 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".
  2. Sprinkle with White Embossing Powder and then heat to set.
  3. Sprinkle a small amount of blue crystals on the bottom left flower.  Spray with water in a spritzer bottle.
  4. Move the colour around inside the image to fill the image using an Aqua Painter
  5. For the top two flowers, sprinkle a small amount of yellow crystals and spray with water in a spritzer bottle.
  6. Move the colour around inside the image to fill the image using an Aqua Painter.  Make sure you've cleaned the Aqua Painter between colouring the blue flower and the yellow flowers.
  7. Pick up a small amount of blue colour and a bit of yellow colour from the flowers and colour in the leaves.
  8. Spread some colour around outside of the flowers - you can pick up some colour from the flowers and dilute with water.
  9. Let dry completely
  10. Cut out the "Amazing" using Night of Navy yardstick
  11. Cut out "YOU" using Daffodil Delight
  12. Trim the dry watercolour paper to 3 3/4" x 5"
  13. Cut a piece of Night of Navy cardstock 4 1/4" x 11".  Score at 5 1/2" and fold to make card base.
  14. Cut a piece of Daffodil Delight yardstick 4" x 5 1/4".  Adhere to card base.
  15. Adhere watercolour paper to card base using Fast Fuse (it sticks best)
  16. Adhere the "Amazing" piece to the card front using a small amount of Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  17. Adhere the "YOU" using Mini Dimensionals.

Picture Perfect Barn Door

Tuesday 20 February 2018

I made this card with a group of ladies in my Birthday Card class on Saturday.  There were a couple of brand new stampers in the group so we took it slowly and worked together to stamp, cut and assemble the card.  It was so much fun to see their reaction - from doubt and fear that they couldn't make this to excitement and amazement that they had created a beautiful card!  That's why I love sharing what I do!  It's so much fun to see their expressions change!

Here's the card

Two for One Friday

Friday 16 February 2018

I'm a little behind this week!  I'm travelling for work and I didn't seem to get my post done on Tuesday, so today it will be two posts in one!  I'm in Regina, SK this week.  Compared to where I live on the West Coast, it's cold here -18 degrees Celsius, but thankfully it is warmer this week than last week when it was -40 degrees!  BRRR!  I'm not made for this kind of weather!

Can you CASE it Friday!

Today's Can you CASE it Friday instalment features the Bird Banter stamp set.  I haven't have had a chance to play with this set yet, but it is so cute.  Today I CASE'd (Copy and Share Everything) from page 43 of the Occasions Catalogue.

This is a cute little gift bag, but I used the idea to make a card.  Check it out.

Can You CASE it Friday - Sweet Little Something

Friday 9 February 2018

Today I'm sharing a card I CASE'd (Copy and Share Everything) from the Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalogue.  This card uses one of my favourite stamp sets from this catalogue - Sweet Little Something.  I was lucky enough to win this stamp set at the Stampin' Up! OnStage event in Salt Lake City in November.  I was SO excited!

Here's the card I CASE'd from page 40 of the Occasions Catalogue.

I love this cute little card.  The bunny is so realistic!

Here's my card.

I changed it up a little bit as I didn't have the Designer Series Paper or Craft Stampin' Ink for the background flowers.  That's what CASE'ing is all about!  You can copy exactly as is or use as an inspiration.

This little bunny is so adorable!  I just love how the image emerges before your eyes and I always have a WOW moment no matter what colour I stamp it in.

Here's a tip on how to stamp the 3 images to get the best results:

  1. Stamp the most detailed stamp in the darkest ink first.  For this bunny I used Early Espresso.
  2. Stamp the next most detailed stamp in a middle ink using the nose and arms to line up.  For  this bunny I used Crumb Cake.
  3. Stamp the solid stamp last lining up the head, arms and legs.  For this bunny I used Sahara Sand.

True Gentleman

Tuesday 6 February 2018

Have you noticed the True Gentleman Suite in the Occasions catalogue?  I love the colours used in the Designer Series Paper.  There are obvious choices for masculine cards, but there are others that can be used for any kind of card.  The colours are amazing - Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry, Night of Navy, Tranquil Did and Very Vanilla.

Here's a card I made using the Designer Series Paper and fabulous Night of Navy Corduroy Ribbon.

Can you CASE it Friday - Happy Wishes

Saturday 3 February 2018

I'm a little behind in posting.  I've been in New Orleans for a conference and time just slips away from me with everything going on.

This weeks' Can you CASE (copy and share everything) instalment features the Happy Wishes stamp set from the Sale-a-Bration brochure.  You can get this stamp set for free with a $120 purchase until the end of March.

I love how many sentiments there are in this set and how versatile it is!  You can use it for birthdays, anniversaries and just about any occasion!

Here's the card I CASE'd from the Sale-a-Bration brochure.
Now, here's my card.

The cards are pretty close.  I used Melon Mambo for the yardstick instead of Flirty Flamingo.  It was so easy to create this card.
