Stamping With Friends Blog Hop - Emboss Resist

Welcome to the Stamping With Friends Blog Hop as we share what projects we are currently working on to inspire you! You will be visiting with our Design Team Members as they share their wonderful projects and ideas to help spark your creativity.  This time our theme is "Emboss Resist".  I love this technique and have used it to create this beautiful card featuring the "Watercolor World" Stamp Set from the Stampin' Up! January to April Mini Catalogue.

I love this background stamp - it's perfect for cards or for scrapbook pages.  I created this card on a recent Sketch Challenge.  You can join me on Tuesday nights at 6:30pm Pacific for the challenge.  Here's the sketch I used for this card.

Now for my card.  I think this is a perfect card for anyone, but it definitely has a masculine feel to it.  I used the Sending Smiles Bundle for the sentiment.  I love how it turned out!  I did cheat a little and added an extra layer - Shimmery White 3 3/4" x 5".

Instructions

  1. Cut Basic Black cardstock 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and score at 4 1/4".  Fold and burnish on scoreline with Bone Folder to form card base.
  2. Cut Silver Foil 4" x 5 1/4" and adhere to card base
  3. Cut Shimmery White Cardstock 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
  4. Stamp world image using Versamark and sprinkle with Clear Embossing Powder.
  5. Heat to melt using Heat Tool.
  6. Once cool, sponge using Smoky Slate ink and a Blending Brush to colour cardstock
  7. Trim piece to 3 3/4" x 5" and adhere to card base.
  8. Cut out background sentiment piece from Basic Black cardstock using Die
  9. Adhere Adhesive Foam Sheet to Silver Foil
  10. Cut out "Sending" word using Die
  11. Adhere to black background
  12. Adhere to card base
  13. Stamp "Smiles Across the Miles" on Shimmery White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
  14. Cut into separate words using Paper Snips
  15. Adhere to card base using Paper Snips
  16. Adhere Classic Matte Dots
  17. Cut Shimmery White cardstock 4" x 5 1/4"
  18. Stamp image/sentiment of your choice using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and adhere to inside of card.
