Technique Tuesday Blog Hop - Masking Techniques

It's time for another Technique Tuesday Blog Hop. This month the theme is Masking.  I love to do masking with the Stampin' Up! Masking Paper - makes it so easy.  Check out this fun card featuring the Playing in the Rain Stampset from the Stampin' Up! January to April Mini Catalogue.  Isn't it fun!I love it when you can create a card where one image appears in front of the other - that's done by masking off or covering over the first image and stamping on top.  Then colouring the 2 images.  Always used to make me wonder how they did that!

Check out my fun card with the fox and bunny playing in the rain!

Instructions

  1. Cut Pool Party cardstock 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and score at 4 1/4".  Fold and burnish on scoreline using Bone Folder to form card base
  2. Cut Basic White cardstock 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
  3. Cut Designer Series Paper 4" x 5 1/4"
  4. Adhere Designer Series Paper to Basic White cardstock
  5. Adhere to card base
  6. Cut Basic White cardstock 3 1/2" x 4 3/4"
  7. Stamp fox image in middle of Basic White cardstock about 1" from top using Tuxedo Black Memento ink
  8. Stamp same image on Masking Paper and cut out - I like to use Paper Snips so that I can cut right on the stamped line
  9. Place cut out image over top of the stamped image - TIP - do not press down hard on the Masking Paper or it may tear the paper when you remove it.  You can apply the Masking Paper to your pants or shirt sleeve to remove some of the stickiness before putting over image.
  10. Stamp second image using Tuxedo Black Memento ink - partly behind to the right of the first image
  11. Remove Masking Paper - gently pull off so you don't tear the Basic White cardstock
  12. Colour images - I used Smoky Slate, Sweet Sorbet and Blushing Bride for the bunny and SU400 and SU 600, Daffodil Delight and Sweet Sorbet for the fox and Dark Pool Party for the puddle
  13. Stamp rain drops using Pool Party ink
  14. Stamp sentiment in bottom left corner using Sweet Sorbet ink
  15. Adhere to Designer Series Paper
  16. Adhere Loose Daisy Embellishments to bottom right corner.
  17. Cut Basic White cardstock 4" x 5 1/4"
  18. Cut DSP 3/4" x 5 1/4"
  19. Adhere to bottom of Basic White cardstock
  20. Adhere to inside of card.
