Can you CASE it Friday - Fancy Fold Card

It's time for another Can you CASE it Friday edition.

This week I've CASE'd a card I received from my friend Ellie Blake in a mostly swap.  Ellie used the Tranquil Tulip stamp set available in the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue.  I love the colours in the card - I think I received the card in the summer, but it is still sitting on my window ledge.  It makes me so happy every time I look at it.  Don't you agree?

My card uses the same fancy fold design, but I've substituted the Painted Harvest stamp set from the Holiday Catalogue.

For my card I stamped on water colour paper which I had spritzed.  The effect is like a water colour painting.  It is a little frightening when you first do this technique as the colour goes everywhere.  There is a balance of how much water to apply - you need just enough so that the colour spreads, but not too much so that it spreads too much.  It is definitely fun trying this.  A friend once told me not to give up on the card with this technique - it looks awful when you're stamping and it's still wet, but the final product is always so amazing!

My colours were:  Daffodil Delight for the bottom layer of the flower and then I stamped the second flower image in Peekaboo Peach.  The centre is Early Espresso.  Here's a tip for the centre of this flower - sometimes you can get a white spot if the stamp doesn't line up perfectly.  I learned from Judy Marshall that if you stamp and then turn the stamp when it's on the card, it smudges the edges and looks amazing.  The leaves are stamped in Old Olive.

This card now sits on my window ledge next to Ellie's card!  I made 2 of these and the other one is off to my sister for her birthday!
