Ornate Style

On a recent team meeting, we had a demonstration of colouring with Stampin' Blends by Liane Binder.  Liane's is a "colourer extraordinaire" and I learned so much from her demonstration.  She challenges us to spend some time colouring this week, so I did exactly that!

Here are some of the things I learned about colouring with Stampin' Blends:
  • Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp with
  • Thick Whisper White card stock or Shimmery Whisper White card stock work well as they don't "pill" as you layer on more colour
  • It's really about layering of colour on to your image - the more you layer the more definition you add
  • Let your image dry at times before adding more colour - you'll still be able to blend and add colour
  • Don't be afraid to combine different colours together.
Here's the first of two cards I made.  The flower stamp from the Ornate Style is perfect for colouring using Stampin' Blends so I tried to put some of Liane's tips to work.

I used Thick Whisper White card stock with a variety of colours on this card - Flirty Flamingo - light and dark; Daffodil Delight - light and dark; Calypso Coral - light and dark; Mint Macaron - light; Mossy Meadow - dark; Crumb Cake - light.

I coloured many of the blooms and added additional layers of ink and then I let it dry.  I went back in and added layers including on some, I went over the entire image with Light Crumb Cake or Light Daffodil Delight.  I love change in colour that it gave me.  It's hard to see on the image, but if you look close on the pink flower in the middle, you can see where it has a yellow tinge to it.

I added a dark edge around the flower at the leaf using Dark Mossy Meadow and then I edge the entire image with Light Crumb Cake.  One final step to add Wink of Stella to the small flowers and then a Champagne Rhinestone to the centre.

What do you think?

Check out the different colours on the flowers and the Champagne Rhinestones as centres of the small flowers.
I challenge you to do some colouring this week!  Post your cards on my FaceBook page using the hashtag #funwithstampinblends and I'll do a draw from everyone who posted for a prize!

If you live in Canada, I would love to be your demonstrator!
