Technique Tuesday - Heat Embossing

I'm excited to be participating in the Technique Tuesday Blog Hop.  Today we're sharing cards featuring heat embossing techniques.  Heat embossing was one of the very first techniques I learned - I used to use an electric frying pan to melt the embossing powder!

For my card today I used the Stampin' Up! Merriest Snowflakes Stamp Set.  I stamped the snowflakes in Versamark and used White Embossing Powder.  I used Night of Navy Ink with a Blending Brush to make the snowflakes "pop".

Instructions

  1. Cut Night of Navy card stock 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and score at 4 1/4".  Fold on score line to create card base.
  2. Cut Basic White card stock 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".
  3. Stamp snowflakes randomly on Basic White card stock using Versamark ink.
  4. Cover with White Embossing Powder and shake off excess.
  5. Heat using Heat Tool.
  6. Using Blending Brush and Night of Navy ink, cover the Basic White card stock with ink to "pop" the snowflakes.
  7. Cut the Basic White card stock to 4" x 5 1/4" using Trimmer
  8. Adhere to card base using Multipurpose Liquid Glue
  9. Cut Basic White card stock 3/4" x 3 1/4"
  10. Stamp sentiment using Night of Navy ink.
  11. Cut Night of Navy card stock 1" x 3 1/2"
  12. Adhere sentiment piece to Night of Navy card stock using Dimensionals.
  13. Adhere to card base using Dimensionals.
  14. Add rhinestones to the centre of the snowflakes.

All of the supplies to make this card are available in my Online Store.
