Stamping With Friends Blog Hop - Colour Challenge

Time for a Stamping With Friends Blog Hop! The theme for this blog hop is a colour challenge!

We were challenged to use Pretty Peacock, Pool Party and Calypso Coral. I love this colour combination much to my surprise!

I decided to play with my Stampin' Blends and alcohol to create a cool background. My big lesson from this card is to "quit while you are ahead". My first layer was the best, but I decided to add more colour and so added more Blends and more alcohol! I should have stopped but in the end I decided to share the card anyway. The speckling was interesting! LOL!

My other big tip when doing this technique is to use bold colours. If your colours are too light, you won't see the blending very well. Check out my video to see how this background progressed!

Instructions

Cut Pretty Peacock cardstock 4 1/4" x 11" and score at 5 1/2". Fold and burnish on the scoreline using a Bone Folder to form card base.
Cut Pool Party cardstock 4" x 5 1/4"
Cut Basic White cardstock 3 3/4" x 5"
Cut Window Sheet 4" x 5 1/2".
Apply Stampin' Blends on Window Sheet - I used Dark Pretty Peacock, Dark Pool Party and Dark Calypso Coral. Add a lot of colour.
Spritz with alcohol.
Use heat tool to dry.
This is were I should have stopped but instead I used my heat tool and then applied more Stampin' Blends and more alcohol.
When you're satisfied with the colours - you can check by putting the window sheet over the Basic White cardstock so you can see the colours better - let dry.
Cut Window Sheet to 3 3/4" x 5" - you can save the cut off pieces to use on the inside if you want.
Adhere window sheet to Basic White cardstock
Adhere to Pool Party cardstock
Adhere to card base.
Stamp sentiment on Basic White cardstock using Pretty Peacock ink.
Cut out using Banner Label die.
Cut out flower outline from Pretty Peacock cardstock using Die
Adhere flower to card base.
Adhere sentiment to card base using Dimensionals.
Adhere embellishments
Cut out flower outline from Pretty Peacock cardstock using Die
Cut Basic White cardstock 4" x 5 1/4"
Adhere flower in bottom right corner of Basic White cardstock and trim off excess.
Adhere to the inside of the card.
