Stamping With Friends Blog Hop - Anything Christmas

Today I'm hopping with the Stamping With Friends Blog Hop.  Our theme is "Anything Christmas".   I made these pretty cards for a recent challenge where we could only use inks, stamp and paper.  I call it a "Split Card" technique.  I'm sure there's other names!  So easy and a great way to create multiple cards.

You start with an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of cardstock and stamp images down and across the centre filling in the spaces with different stamps and colours.  When you're happy with the look, you cut the cardstock into 4 pieces that are 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".  You can trim them down like I did to 3 3/4" x 5" and add an extra layer.  How easy is that!

Instructions

  1. Score an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of Basic White cardstock in half in both directions - at 4 1/4" on the short side and 5 1/2" on the long side.  These are your guidelines for stamping
  2. Stamp images along those guide lines in both directions using multiple stamps and multiple colours.  I used the Stars at Night Stamp Set and Night of Navy, Shaded Spruce and Wild Wheat ink.
  3. Fill in the gaps using smaller stamps
  4. Cut the piece into 4 pieces of 3 3/4" x 5"
  5. You may need to fill in more of the gaps with other stamps and colours - make sure you leave a corner open to stamp the sentiment
  6. Stamp sentiment in corner using Wild Wheat ink.
  7. Cut 4 card bases 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" - 2 in Night of Navy and 2 in Wild Wheat.  Score at 4 1/4"
  8. Fold and burnish on scoreline using Bone Folder to form card base.
  9. Cut 2 pieces of Wild Wheat cardstock 4" x 5 1/4"
  10. Cut 2 pieces of Night of Navy cardstock 4" x 5 1/4"
  11. Adhere stamped cardstock to Wild Wheat or Night of Navy cardstock
  12. Adhere to card bases.
  13. Adhere embellishments
  14. Cut 4 pieces of Basic White cardstock 4" x 5 1/4"
  15. Stamp stars in bottom right corner using Wild Wheat
  16. Adhere to the inside of the card.

You can find all of the supplies for this card in my Online Store.

I shared this technique in a recent live using the Translucent Florals Stamp Set.  While the cards look different, the technique is the same! Check out my Youtube Video for tips and tricks to make this card. Don't forget to subscribe to my Stamping with Melva YouTube Channel
