Stamping With Friends Blog Hop - Kintsugi Technique

Today I'm hopping with the Stamping With Friends Blog Hop. We're sharing projects featuring the Kintsugi Technique. Never heard of it? I hadn't realized you could use this for card making. I have seen pictures of repaired pottery and china that use this method.

If you google "Kintsugi" here's what Wikipedia says:

Kintsugi (金継ぎ, "golden joinery"), also known as kintsukuroi (金繕い, "golden repair"),^[1] is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum; the method is similar to the maki-e technique.^[2]^[3]^[4] As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise.^[5]

Check out this bowl that shows the technique.

Isn't it cool! and It's really easy! Tear paper and then versamark the edges and apply Gold Embossing Powder. Heat to melt and then glue your pieces back together!

Instructions

Cut Early Espresso cardstock 4 1/4" x 11" and score at 5 1/2". Fold and burnish on scoreline to form card base using Bone Folder.
Cut Distressed Gold Paper 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
Cut Designer Series Paper 3 3/4" x 5"
Tear into 3 pieces
Apply Versamark to the torn edges and apply Gold Embossing Powder
Heat to melt
Adhere the pieces to the Distressed Gold Paper
Adhere to the Card Base
Cut Early Espresso cardstock 1/2" x 2 1/2"
Stamp sentiment using Versamark
Apply Gold Embossing Powder and heat to melt
Cut Distressed Gold Specialty Paper 3/4" x 2 3/4"
Adhere embossed sentiment to Gold Paper
Adhere to card base using Dimensionals
Adhere Gold Sequins
Cut Very Vanilla cardstock 3 3/4" x 5"
Cut Designer Series Paper 3/4" x 5"
Adhere Designer Series Paper to Very Vanilla cardstock
Adhere to the inside of the card
