Stamping With Friends Blog Hop - Paper Strips

Time for a Stamping With Friends Blog Hop! The theme today is a "Paper Strips". I love this theme! It's a chance to use up all of the scraps of paper that I have hanging around! I save them because you never know when they can be used! This is the perfect opportunity.

At my Team Meetings I ask one of my team members to do a creative share. In July, Sandy showed us how to make a bargello card. I was definitely intrigued. I have done bargello quilts and a bargello needlepoint pillow, but never with scraps of paper. It was so easy!

Check out these fun cards! You can use cardstock or Designer Series Paper and the strips can be any width you want. Check out the fun cards I created! Once I started, I couldn't stop!

I used the Pressed Flowers EF for this card

I used the Dotted Circles EF for this card

Here's a couple more that I made.
This one was embossed using the Forever Plaid EF and used the Blooming Phrases Stampset for the sentiment.

This one was embossed using the Mini Corrugated EF and used the Blooming Phrases Stampset for the sentiment.

Instructions - note these instructions are generic for any of the cards - you can switch the colours, orientation and size of the strips - watch my video to see how I made the card. Check out the video I made.

Cut card base 4 1/4" x 11" and score at 5 1/2" or 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and score at 4 1/4".
Fold and burnish on scoreline using Bone Folder to form card base.
Cut strips of cardstock or Designer Series Paper either 1/2" x 5 1/2" or 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Cut Basic White cardstock 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Adhere the strips of cardstock or Designer Series Paper to the Basic White cardstock butted up against each other - alternate colours.
Turn the Basic White cardstock so that the strips go across the cardstock (or opposite to how you adhere them) and cut the Basic White cardstock into 1/4" strips - you will now have strips with alternating colours.
Cut coordinating cardstock 4" x 5 1/4" or 3 3/4" x 5" (if you want to add an additional matte)
Adhere the strips to the cardstock starting about 1/2" or 3/4" from top for the first strip.
Adhere the second strip about 1/4" up or down and butted up against the first strip.
Continue adhering the strips onto the cardstock - moving up and down as you want to make the wave.
Once you have all strips adhere across the cardstock, emboss the piece using your favourite embossing folder.
Adhere to the card base if your piece was 4" x 5 1/4"
If your piece was 3 3/4" x 5", adhere to a piece of coordinating cardstock 4" x 5 1/4". Then adhere to the card base.
Stamp sentiment in coordinating colour on Basic White cardstock
Adhere to a matte layer of cardstock in a coordinating colour
Adhere to the card base.
Embellish with ribbon or embellishments
Cut Basic White cardstock 4" x 5 1/4"
Adhere a strip of the colours to the bottom of the Basic White cardstock.
Adhere to the inside of the card.
